Workington

"It is all about the experience, a pint in a pub is worth two at home. There is something magical about enjoying a film with an audience. That is why we are here."

Gerald Parkes MBE, Founder.

Parkway was founded in 1983, by Gerald Parkes and his wife Denise. Gerald was awarded an MBE in 2013 for services to the UK cinema industry, and sadly passed away shortly afterwards.

But the show goes on with his wife Denise, their sons Gerrard & Richard, and all of our wonderful, awesome, amazing staff.

We’re incredibly proud to operate the Parkway Cleethorpes, the UK’s largest independent cinema, as well as the Playhouse in Louth, which first opened in 1921. We’ve gone on to open brilliant new cinemas in Beverley, Workington and (Coming Soon!) Grimsby.

We think a great cinema is about much more than what happens on screen. It’s about the team, the service, the atmosphere, the audience. We pride ourselves on offering exceptional service and a warm welcome.
